REVIEW: Cirque Du Soleil’s KURIOS at the Royal Albert Hall

Are you looking to delve into a world of showstopping talent? Then grab your keys and prepare to unlock Cirque Du Soleil’s Cabinet Of Curiosities at their brand new production KURIOS, currently playing at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

Having admired the undeniable artistry of Cirque from afar for years, I was thrilled to be invited to the European premiere press night at one of London’s most prestigious and grand venues.

The minute I stepped into the space, I was transported into a wonderful world of spectacular steampunk spectacles. Before the show started, we were greeted with glimpses of what was to come through pre-show interactions delivered by this curious cast.

When the clock struck 11:11, we were engulfed into the world of an ambitious inventor who defies the laws of time, space and dimension in order to reinvent everything around him. However, when his world begins to quite literally turn upside down, everything he thought he knew turns topsy turvy!

Having seen a fair few circus productions over the years, and knowing the legacy of Cirque, I was prepared to expect the unexpected, and to be dazzled. It’s safe to say within the opening number alone, I was left speechless by the sheer spectacle of talent, variety and peculiar perfection!

The true highlight for me though was not any single act (simply because it would be impossible to choose one, as they were all sensational!), but this troupe of storytellers ability to deliver a feast of fantasy, imagination, and eccentric excellence unlike any cabaret or circus cast I have ever seen before.

At any given moment throughout this show, there is something that catches your eye, and welcomes you a little more down the rabbit hole of fascination that you never want to end!

The level of aesthetic detail from the set to the impeccable costumes, the props to the striking lighting design and the carefully crafted soundtrack, this production truly is a buffet for every sense.

The variety of acts contained a perfect mix of danger, thrill, and comedy, including acts that I have never, and would never imagine I would see in real life! The selection of talent truly levels up to new heights of exhilaration, animation, and anticipation, each complimenting one another superbly.

If you are looking for a production to beat the January Blues, then snap up a ticket to see KURIOS while it is in London!

This seamless production is truly unlike anything I have seen before, and this powerhouse cast will leave you spellbound in a world of endless innovation.
