10 Year Challenge: Some of our Favourite West End Performers!

There's a craze going around at the moment called 'The 10 Year challenge' and as we're welcoming in the new decade, we looked back at some of our favourite performers and did it for them! Lucie Jones

As Cosette in the London production of Les Miserables and as Jenna in Waitress at the Adelphi Theatre. Other credits include Madame Morrible in Wicked (Apollo Victoria); Mrs Phelps in Matilda (RSC Stratford and Cambridge); The Lorax (Old Vic); Martha Watson in White Christmas (West Yorkshire Playhouse); General Cartwright in Guys & Dolls (Chichester Festival Theatre); Ma Rainey in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom (Liverpool Playhouse); Madame Thernardier in Les Miserables (Queens); Pearl in Daddy Cool (Shaftesbury) and Mrs Corry in Mary Poppins (Prince Edward).

Alistair Brammer 

As Marius in the London production of Les Miserables and as Fiyero in Wicked at the Apollo Victoria Theatre. Gina Beck 

As Christine in the London production of Phantom of the Opera and as Miss Honey in Matilda at the Cambridge Theatre. Other credits include Magnolia Hawks in Show Boat (New London Theatre/Sheffield Crucible); Glinda in Wicked (West End/USA tour); Cosette in Les Misérables (Queen’s Theatre); I Love You You’re Perfect Now Change(Arts Theatre Upstairs); Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris (Charing Cross Theatre); Maria in The Sound of Music (Malaysia); The Belle’s Stratagem (Southwark Playhouse); Kate in The Kissing Dance (Jermyn St Theatre) and Rebecca in Imagine This (Plymouth Theatre Royal).

James Gillan

As Colin in The Secret Garden at the Birmingham Rep and West Yorkshire Playhouse and as Tray Sophisticay in Everybody's Talking About Jamie at the Apollo Theatre. Sandra Marvin 

As Motormouth Maybelle in the UK Tour of Hairspray and as Becky in the London production of Waitress. George Ure 

George is the only one on our list to be playing the same role 10 years on! Having started in the London production of Wicked in the ensemble he started to play the role of Boq full time in 2010, since then he has appeared in the UK tour of the show and returned to the production in 2019. His other credits include Zaki in Big Fish (The Other Palace); Tobias in Sweeney Todd (Welsh National Opera, West Yorkshire Playhouse and La Monnaie De Munt); Tom in Millennium (Soho Theatre) and Rusty in Starlight Express (The Other Palace). 

Victoria Hamilton-Barritt

As Alex in the West End premier of Flashdance and as Jenny in Death of a Salesman at the Piccadilly Theatre. Other credits include Inez in The View Upstairs (Soho Theatre); Kate in The Wild Party (The Other Palace); Narrator in Murder Ballad (The Arts Theatre); Daniela in In The Heights (Southwark Playhouse & Kings Cross Theatre); Diana in A Chorus Line (London Palladium); Louise in Gypsy (Leicester Curve) and Rizzo in Grease (Picadilly Theatre). 

Clive Carter 

As the Wizard in Wicked at the Apollo Victoria Theatre and as Claude in the original London company of Come From Away. Other credits include Oklahoma! (Royal Albert Hall BBC Proms); Charlie and the Chocolate Factory(Theatre Royal Drury Lane); Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (Palace Theatre); We Will Rock You (Dominion Theatre); Into The Woods (Phoenix Theatre); Les Misérables (Barbican and Palace Theatre); Phantom of the Opera (Her Majesty’s Theatre); My Fair Lady (Sheffield Crucible Theatre); Crooked Wood (Jermyn Street Theatre); Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (Lyric Theatre); The Shakespeare Revue (US Tour) and The Nerd (UK Tour).

Landi Oshinowo 

In Sister Act at the London Palladium where she covered the role of Deloris and as Miss Phelps in Matilda at the Cambridge Theatre. Other credits include Jarene in The Color Purple (Leicester Curve/Birmingham Hippodrome); Nell in Ain’t Misbehavin’ (Mercury Colchester/Southwark Playhouse); The Witch/Jenny Hill in Big Fish (The Other Palace); Joyce Heath in Barnum (UK tour); Miss Sherman in Fame (UK tour); Ensemble/understudy Sargent in The Light Princess (National Theatre); Poopsie in The Pajama Game (Chichester Festival Theatre); Dragon/Ugly Duckling in Shrek The Musical (Theatre Royal Drury Lane) and Acid Queen in Tommy (UK tour).

Oliver Tompsett

As Fiyero in the London production of Wicked and as William Shakespeare in the original London cast of & Juliet at the Shaftesbury Theatre. Other credits include Charlie Price in Kinky Boots (Adelphi); Sky Masterson in Guys & Dolls (Phoenix); Galileo in We Will Rock You (Dominion); Drew Boley in Rock of Ages (Shaftesbury); Phil Davis in White Christmas (West Yorkshire Playhouse), Starlight Express (The Other Palace) and Mamma Mia! (Prince of Wales).

Mazz Murray 

As the Killer Queen in her record breaking run in the London production of We Will Rock You and as Donna in Mamma Mia at the Novello Theatre. Her other credits include Mama Morton in Chicago (Phoenix Theatre); Patsy Cline in The Roy Orbison Story across the UK; Dusty Springfield in A Girl Called Dusty at the Duke Of York's; Tanya in Mamma Mia (Novello Theatre) and productions of Rent, Smokey Joe's Café, Fame, Only The Lonely, Boogie Nights and Pippin.

Adrian Hansel

As Seaweed in the original company of Hairspray and as Benny in Guys and Dolls and the Sheffield Crucible. Other credits include Rusty in Starlight Express (Apollo Victoria); Ain't Misbehavin' (Mercury Theatre, Colchester and Southwark Playhouse); The Distance You Have Come (Cockpit) and Alternate in Five Guys Named Moe (Marble Arch Theatre).

Rachel Tucker 

As Elphaba in the London production of Wicked and as Beverley in the original London company of Come From Away. Her other credits include Two (Bridge House Theatre); The Last Ship (Neil Simon Theatre, New York and Bank of America Theatre, Chicago); Communicating Doors (Menier Chocolate Factory); Farragut North(Southwark Playhouse); Wicked (Apollo Victoria Theatre, London and Gershwin Theatre, New York) and We Will Rock You (Dominion).

Samuel Holmes

As Ruth in All Male The Pirates of Penzance at the Union Theatre and Wiltons Music Hall and as Christopher Belling in Curtains on tour and in London's West End. Other credits include Lord Farquaad in Shrek (UK Tour); George in The Wedding Singer (UK Tour); Bertie in Mrs Henderson Presents (Theatre Royal Bath and Noël Coward Theatre London); Terrence in Waterbabies (Leicester Curve); Sir Bedevere/Prince Herbert in Spamalot (Playhouse Theatre, London); Gremio in Kiss Me, Kate (Old Vic and Chichester Festival Theatre); Eugene Fodor and Understudy Bela Zangler in Crazy For You (Regents Park Open Air Theatre and Novello Theatre London) and Sir Robin in Spamalot (UK and international Tour).

Sharon D. Clarke

As Motormouth Maybelle in the last cast of Hairspray in London and as Linda Loman in Death of a Salesman. She won the Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical for Caroline, Or Change (Chichester Festival Theatre/Hampstead Theatre/Playhouse Theatre). Her other theatre credits include Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, The Amen Corner (National Theatre), Ghost The Musical (Piccadilly Theatre), The Life (Southwark Playhouse), Porgy and Bess (Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre), Hairspray (Shaftesbury Theatre) and We Will Rock You (Dominion Theatre). 

Caroline Sheen 

As the title role in Mary Poppins in the US Touring production and as Violet in the West End production of 9 to 5. David Bedella 

As Frank N Furter in the UK tour of The Rocky Horror Show and as Lance in the original London cast of & Juliet at the Shaftesbury Theatre. As Lucy the Slut in Avenue Q in London and as Anne Hathaway in the original London cast of & Juliet at the Shaftesbury Theatre. Other credits include Carole King in Beautiful: The Carole King Musical (Aldwych), Ruth in Dessa Rose (Trafalgar Studios), Paquette in Candide (Menier Chocolate Factory), Maggie Saunders in Lend Me A Tenor (Gielgud), Kate Monster/Lucy the Slut in Avenue Q (Gielgud), standby Elphaba in Wicked (Apollo Victoria) and Susan in Tick, Tick... Ethan Le Phong 

As Pepper in Mamma Mia in the US and as Lun Tha in the King and I on tour around the UK. West End credits include original cast of We Will Rock You, original cast of Thoroughly Modern Millie, original cast of Disney’s Aladdin, original revival cast of Miss Saigon, Tein Mien in Ballad of Little Jo, and Jerry Springer in The Opera. US credits include Montparnasse in Les Misérables (Hollywood Bowl); Rent (Hollywood Bowl); Disney’s Aladdin on Broadway and Miss Saigon (Broadway/2nd US National Tour/Germany).
